It is with great sadness to have to announce the recent passing of Angelo Strocco at the age of 94. Angelo will be well known throughout the North East of England, as the proprietor of Angelo's Scooter Station, on Shields Road, Byker.

Italian born Angelo came to the UK as a prisoner of war, whilst serving in Africa with the Italian army.He went back to Italy after the war, but could not settle so he returned to the UK in 1948. He began working in a garage in Gateshead, where a scooter shop was set up in the early 1950's

Due to the popularity of Vespa scooters in the 1960's the scooter side of the business was moved to premises on Shields Road. Angelo took over the business in 1969 renaming it Angelo's Scooter Station, where he traded until his retirement in 1984. It was recently quoted "Angelo was a legend in his own right, known worldwide for his expertise in the restoration and tuning of Piaggio scooters".

Angelo was well known around Newcastle and was regularly seen picking up scooters and parts in the area in his Vespa Ape or flying around on his 150 Super and sidecar later a P200e and sidecar.
